From Northern Ireland’s Killowen Distillery, one of the smallest in Ireland and thought to be the only to use worm tub condensation, a historic distillation technique. Focusing on centuries of gin-making in Ireland, Killowen Distillery place seasonal botanicals to the fore, many of which are handpicked from the immediate locality. The result is an unusual gin celebrating its maritime and highland environment within the Mourne Mountains. Wild angelica, juniper, fuchsia flower, lemon zest, and meadowsweet, serve as the staple botanicals in the spirit upon which the infusion is created.
The blackberry with its sweet, slightly tart and earthy undertones balance with the bittersweet orange peel. Needing a little something extra, rosemary was added, given that extra layer of complexity. The result is an inviting natural fruity aroma, with the bursts of blackberry and orange grounded with the gentle prickle of rosemary.
