The second batch of whiskey distilled in Dublin in nearly 40 years. From Teelings Newmarket distillery based in The Liberties, Dublin, comes their inaugural whiskey release. Made from a blend of malted and unmalted barley, the batch number two was aged in virgin oak, ex-wine and ex-bourbon barrels. Later releases would see this change from virgin to first-fill. Lots of bright pear and peach on the nose, almost some passionfruit. The mouthfeel is velvety, accented with a spicy kick of white pepper near the end. Alex Chasko, master distiller and blender said his intentions we’re to make a punchy whiskey that could hold it’s own neat but also over ice. Mission accomplished.
