The Writer’s Tears brand has established itself and an outlier in the blended whiskey scene. It decidedly omits the grain whiskey element typical of most blends, and instead opts for a copper pot distilled blend of malt and pot still styles. This imparts a rich viscous mouthfeel that coats the palate and lends a lengthy finish. The cask strength variation is released annually to a limited production run, with this year in particular yielding just 2,580 bottles. Matured entirely in ex-bourbon barrels, bottled at a spicy 53% ABV. No filtration nor colouring is utilized during the whiskey making process.
