In a world where past and future merge, the stage is set for a legendary battle that echoes throughout Éire. The Cattle Raid of Cooley, reimagined in a universe fused of Celtic lore and otherworldly tech, centres between the valiant Cú Chulainn and the cunning Queen Medb, as they battle it out for the mighty Brown Bull of Cooley, Donn Cuailnge.
Just as the legendary figures clashed on the battlegrounds of Cooley, we thought it fitting to honour their story with a whiskey born of that very land.
Cú Chulainn
Hound of Ulster
Dawn breaks, casting first light on Cú Chulainn. Clad in futuristic armour, he stands imposing on the battlefield. As Medb’s forces advance, he charges with the might of a tempest. Wielding his spear the Gáe Bulg with both ferocity and precision, it pierces the air, with each strike unleashing devastation to its victims. Its lethal design with multiple barbs deals maximum damage, leading Cú Chulainn through his adversaries like a force of nature, his actions fueled by the fierce spirit of Ulster.
queen medb
the warrior queen:
Opposite him is Queen Medb, the formidable queen of Connacht, who ignites the epic Táin Bó Cúailnge by leading a massive army to seize the Brown Bull of Cooley, a quest driven by her desire for power and equality with her husband Ailill. A master strategist and diplomat, she skillfully navigates alliances and confrontations, especially with the hero Cú Chulainn who valiantly defends Ulster. Throughout the conflict, Medb showcases her cunning and adaptability, using various tactics to counter Cú Chulainn’s resistance.
donn cuailnge
the brown bull of cooley:
The magnificent beast at the heart of the Irish epic. His impressive stature and the rich brown of his hide mark him as a creature of both beauty and power, a living symbol of prosperity and strength in the ancient province of Ulster. Coveted by Queen Medb for his unmatched value, he becomes the unwitting prize in a conflict that draws the boundaries of desire and rivalry. It’s roar is said to echo the tensions between kingdoms, his very presence an omen of the tumultuous events to unfold. As the armies of Connacht and Ulster clash, Donn Cuailnge’s fate is entwined with the land’s very soul, his destiny a mirror to the pride and tragedy of the human warriors.
The battle rages, a symphony of clashing steel and whirring machinery. Cú Chulainn carves a path through Medb’s forces, his heroics a beacon of hope. Medb, with her keen mind, adapts her tactics, countering his strength with her cunning. The land around them bears witness to this clash of titans, a battleground for ideals, strength, and strategy.
As the day wanes, it’s clear this is more than a battle over a legendary bull; it’s a clash of epochs, ideologies, and legends. Cú Chulainn, Medb, and Donn Cuailnge each play their part in this grand narrative, a tale of courage, ambition, and power in a world where past meets future.
