The Knappogue Castle 1994 is a single malt Irish whiskey laid down in 1994. The tradition of independent bonding and bottling at Knappogue Castle was begun by Mark Andrews in the 1960s, buying top quality single pot still and single malt whiskeys from distilleries around the country, then aging and blending them himself to create a unique whiskey. This tradition has been carried on and expanded by his son.
Its tasting notes abound with citrussy fruit with a hefty, oily body. It has proved to be one of the most appealing of this annual range of bottlings from a few years ago. As a standout name in independent Irish whiskey bottling this offers a rare opportunity for something very different either for tasting or adding to your collection.
