This Midleton Very Rare 2009 has acquired almost legendary status among collectors. Due to the height of the financial crisis, of which Ireland was one of the worst countries affected, the bottle only had one bottling run and was only on the market for around three months. Thus it now fetches a premium far above the years either side of it as it is often the final piece in many collector’s full-set jigsaws.
The nose has hints of ripe pear and green apple, the latter of which continues on to the palate, balanced with a distinct nuttiness and light spicy coriander. The finish is a long, sweet and refined with the apple and pear becoming candied and sweeter.
