A first for Irish and whiskey overall. Currach Single Malt Atlantic Kombu Seaweed Cask was first distilled in West Cork, aged in ex-bourbon casks then finished in freshly charred virgin American oak barrels. The fire used for re-charring was fueled entirely from 100% organic dried Kombu seaweed. The seaweed was hand harvested off the coast of County Clare by the Talty Family, who have been doing so for 4 generations. The term Currach comes from the traditional boat used for millennia and is said to be the style of boat used by monks to bring the first whiskey over to Scotland from Ireland.
