Tyrconnell 10 Year Old is one of the Tyrconnell range of 10 Year Olds, the Madeira Finish specifically has become highly lauded across the world. The whiskey was given 95 points in Jim Murray’s Whiskey Bible, won the same author’s whiskey of the year in 2008. It is rated among the Top 20 whiskeys in the world by review aggregator Proof66.com.
The Single Malt comes from the Cooley Distillery, now called the Kilbeggan Distilling Company and is aged for 10 years in ex-Madeira casks, giving it a deep flavour of dried fruits to complement the toffee of the malt.
The cover depicts a racehorse as the name was originally taken from a 100-1 long shot which came in and netted a fortune for the owner of the Watt distillery in 1876. He thus named his premium whiskey after it.
