This Knappogue Castle 1993 was laid down in 1993, hence the name, and bottled in 2001. Triple distilled it is smooth with light fruity flavours such as peach, the finish is a sweet and lightly saccharine with notes of spiciness as well.
Knappogue Castle was one of the first of the “new” independent bottlers of Irish whiskeys with the scion of the family, Mark Erwin Andrews, buying up the last of the whiskey from the Daly Distillery in Tullamore before it shut in 1954. His son Mark continued the tradition by focusing on buying specially selected Irish single malts, first from Cooley and then Bushmills, to mature at the family home of Knappogue Castle.
