This single malt was aged in ex-bourbon for 16 years before being finished in ex-banyuls wine casks. Banyuls wine is a dessert wine that hails from the Côte Vermeille, a French winemaking region that borders Spain on the Mediterranean coast. They incorporate a production process known as mutage which retains the natural sweetness of the grape, producing a style of wine similar in style to port or madeira. The French oak barrels used to age the wine were then used to finish this delicious single malt producing a unique flavour profile rarely seen in the whiskey world.
