In February 2017, the Blue Note expression won a coveted Gold Medal at the highly rated World Whisky Awards in the “Best Irish Single Malt 12 Years Old and Younger” category. They took this a step further in October of the same year by picking up yet another Gold Medal, this time at the Irish Whiskey Awards.

The Distillery

The Boann Distillery continues to grow rapidly as people around the globe are drawn to the distinctive flavour of it’s award winning Irish Whiskey. John McDougall, the master distiller, works tirelessly behind the scenes to develop innovative whiskey that deserves a place on the world stage. His experience as the head distiller at The Balvenie, Laphroaig, Springbank, Tormore and Plymouth Gin shines through in each drop that comes from the stills.

From milling to mashing, distilling, maturing
and bottling, every elegant mouthful of Boann malted
pot still whiskey is created within the quietude of a unique family distillery. All ingredients are 100% natural and 100% local. Every drop of water is drawn from the Boyne Valley well. Every grain of barley is provided by native Irish farmers.

Tasting Notes

Acquiring its complex yet rich and smooth taste from its maturation in Oak Bourbon casks with further ageing and finishing in Oak Sherry Oloroso casks.

NOSE
Sweet sherbet lemon balanced beautifully with creamy salted caramel and undertones of red currants and dark fruit.

PALATE
Dry, citrus sweetness, slight pepperiness tied with hints of red berries from the nose.

FINISH
Light citrus sweetness that gives way to the slightly soft wood influence.
