Rhum Agricole is a style of rum that can only be produced on the Caribbean island of Martinique. This style is produced form the sugarcane juice rather than fermented molasses, producing a lighter more vegetal style of rum. The Trois Rivières Distillery in Martinique was established in 1785 by the Marraud des Grottes family, a powerful noble family who moved from France to Martinique. The sugarcane plantation is border by three rivers, hence the name. This finish suits the classic fruity Teeling profile, and is a great alternative to the typical rum cask finish. Bottled exclusively just for the French and Belgian market.
