Part of the Sommelier Series, a range of whiskey finished in selective wine casks rarely seen used in the whiskey world. Initially, the whiskey is aged for at least 6 years in bourbon casks, after which it is finally aged for 24 months in the exclusive casks that previously stored a red premier cru Margaux wine. This style of wine is produced in the Haut-Médoc region of Bordeaux France. Production centers around the village from which it’s name is derived. Margaux is a blended grape based off the cabernet sauvignon grape that incorporates Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The Margaux aging process in normally always done in French Limousine Oak, imparting delicate aroma but robust wood tannins. Having spend two years in the cask the whiskey has taken on a rich colour, dark berry notes and some delicious plummy flavours. Limited release into the European market.
