Blackpitts is the name of the area near the Teeling Distillery, where a large mill and malting house was located at the time the whiskey industry was flourishing in Dublin. A peated single malt made from 100% germinated malt with a phenolic value of approximately 55 ppm, distilled three times and then aged in bourbon, finished in sauterne wine barrels, each barrel blended and bottled at 46%. Non-chill filtered as it all of the Teeling range. This is the first peated whiskey to be distilled in Teeling’s Newmarket Distillery. Master Distiller Alex Chasko, was also responsible for the Connemara range at Cooley, the distillery previously owned and operated by the Teeling family.

“An inviting nose where barbeque smoke and cloves are intermingled with fresh notes of butterscotch and orange peel. On the palate a fascinating blend of Applewood smoke, honey and all spice are married with stewed pears and fresh grilled pineapple. This whiskey finishes with the return of a savoury smoke over a lingering wood undertone, which combines delightfully with notes of salted caramel.”
