A very old bottling of the classic Cork favourite, Paddys. As noted on the label, this blend was produced while the Cork Distilleries Co. were still in existence, with this being bottled sometime in the 1980s. Paddy’s historically was a single pot still labels. “Cork Distilleries Company Old Irish Whiskey”. Travelling salesperson Paddy O’ Flaherty would go town to town with bottle in hand. His marketing tool of giving free shots at tastings proved to be a successful tactic. Publicans running low on stock, would call up the distillery asking for “Paddy’s Whiskey”, and the Cork Distilleries Co. declared the eponymous whiskey in his honour. Today, Paddy is known as one of the lightest of the Irish blends, due to it’s higher malt content over pot still.
