O’ Kanagan’s Very Rare is a short-lived bottling from the Cooley Distillery. Created for the German retail market back in the mid-’90s this particular brand has very little stock left. The blend consists of both double-distilled malt and grain whiskey aged exclusively in ex-bourbon American white oak. This is a no-age-statement, however, upon tasting we can deduce that it most likely spent an average of 5-7 years in cask.
Tasting notes:
Aroma: Light caramel, cereal, some dry hay, slight cacao.
Taste: Healthy mouthfeel from the double-distilled malt. Sweetness dominates with coconut and vanilla coming through from the American oak.
Finish: Malt carries the predominately sweet tipple forward. Spark of apples and pear.
