Hinch 12 year old Amarone Finish

$ 125

Introducing the oldest core statement to come out of Hinch. This 12 year old has been aged in ex-bourbon for 11 years before a final 12 month finish in ex-Masi Amarone casks.

The Masi story begins in 1772, when the Boscaini family carried out their first harvest in the prestigious vineyards in “Vajo dei Masi”, a valley in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica region. After more than 200 years of passionate winemaking the company is still in family hands, run by the sixth and seventh generations. For producing it’s amarone wine, Masi honours traditional and craft from the Véneto region, in particular the appassimento technique. A process whereby traditional grapes from the Valpolicella Classica area, Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, are laid out on bamboo racks to concentrate their aromas during the winter months. This practise dates back all the way to Roman times, without much alterations.

The resulting wine is sweet, strong leaning into cherry, coffee and cinnamon. A unique profile that lends itself perfectly to the whiskey itself.
