Bushmills-Causeway-Collection-1995-Malaga-Cask

Bushmills Causeway
Collection: 1995 Malaga Cask

Part of the illustrious Causeway Collection to come from Bushmills Distillery. This 24 year old single malt contains a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-oloroso sherry casks for 10 years. When the time called, they were married into select barrels previously holding Malaga wine and aged for a whopping 14 years. As with every release in the Causeway Collection, bottles are limited. With just 2491 of this particular expression seeing the light of day. Bottled at a generous 53.5%, this is not one to miss.

Tasting notes:

Nose: The classic Bushmills stone fruit dominate. Peach and plum, some orange zest, cashews with black pepper.

Palate: More peach leading into richer dried fruit brought in from the sherry casks. The Malaga adds a richer, warmer layer to the mouthfeel, with warming spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon.

Finish: Spice drags on nicely, pairing with some huskier chocolate notes, some crisp zest finishing on a high.

Teeling-24-yr-old-malt

Teeling 24 Year Old
Vintage Reserve Collection

This very special Teeling 24 Year Old Single Malt was first distilled in 1991 and bottled in a small batch of just 5,000. It was matured in ex-Bourbon casks before being brought together in specially selected Sauterne wine casks. Non-chill filtered, bottled at 46%. This process produced some wonderful flavour profiles and proved to be a masterful creation by Teeling.
The unique dual maturation imparted an extra depth of fruit flavours, which was complemented by the smoky hints brought about by the inclusion of small amounts of the peated malt Cooley was famous for to the mash bill. The whiskey itself was hand bottled in beautiful and unique decanter bottles. Complete with a gorgeous presentation box and its own certificate of authenticity, this whiskey would sit proudly in any collection. The whiskey was the recipient of Worlds Best Single Malt in 2019, marking the first time in history an Irish whiskey has claimed the coveted accolade.

Tasting notes

Nose: Aromas of white grapes, cut grass, apricots and white chocolate.

Palate: Silky smooth, with flavours of fig jam, honey, apricots, white chocolate and crisp saltiness at the end to balance the sweetness off.

Finish: Long and mellow.

Tasting notes

Nose: Pure grass! Very much one of these light and gently austere profiles which is all about cut grass, chopped herbs, lemon peel, wet plaster, fabrics, sunflower seeds and the faintest wee buttery note.

Palate: Surprising richness on arrival. There’s a more assertive texture of cooking oils, some buttery flavours, cookie dough, vanilla cream, cactus flesh and white chocolate.

Finish: Slightly shorter than expected but clean, crisp and dry with notes of sunflower oil and oatcakes.
